Even if he did noticed, Naruto knowing Sumire is the source, should question "why" is she with Boruto, as this concerns his son, and not just ignore.

The anime seem to have failed to pay attention on little details of everyone's skills back when they where in Shippuden.

This series is actually good. Has me hooked so far, it takes a little time to get into these kind of things though. People expect action from the very first episode without character building... that is not how it is done.
